Rare and superb! Type 1855 Staff Pistol. A French handcrafted staff officer's pistol with a percussion lock and double trigger.
Over-and-under Damascus steel barrels with a ribbon-like pattern. Neo-Renaissance style stock, without a forend, with a fluted grip. As you can see in the last photos, there is a slight dent on the top of the barrel. France, mid-19th century. These pistols were produced in small quantities. A very fine collector's item with its rare appearance.
Second Empire period, Napoleon III, 1855
Caliber 17.5 mm, length 35 cm, barrel 19 cm, weight approximately 1.2 kg
