PRUSSIAN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABRE of Wilhelm II, 1889
Gilt brass hilt. Three-branch guard with Prussian eagle. Short-tailed pommel. Wooden grip covered in silver-filed shagreen with a gilt brass monogram of Wilhelm II. Straight, fullered blade, 80.6 cm long. The blade is signed at the ricasso (Coppel Alexander ALCOSO Solingen). Black painted steel scabbard. The guard features a Prussian eagle, Kaiser Wilhelm II. Second Reich period. These sabers, with their Prussian eagle guard, are very difficult to find in their original condition; the ornaments are often torn off or broken. This saber was also used during the First World War. This saber, manufactured in 1898, is in very good condition. The hilt has retained its gilding. The blade is in very good condition. Sheath in good condition; the sheath has been refurbished.
