Gras Cavalry Rifle, model M80, 1874-1882
Gras Cavalry Rifle, model M80, 1874-1882
Gras Cavalry Carbine, 11mm caliber, Model 74, manufactured in 1882. It features an M80 modification with an improved breechblock and gas extraction system.
The stock has been refurbished. There is a hole in the stock that was likely intended for removing the breechblock firing pin, and another that appears to have been for a small plate engraved with the owner's name. This rifle has its own history, which I have absolutely no intention of altering. There is slight pitting on the muzzle of the barrel (see last photo). The rifle is not a matching serial number; the breechblock bears different serial numbers.
A very fine collector's item and a historical weapon. The overall length is 116 cm, and the barrel length is 67 cm. The rifle is in firing condition.
