Here is a percussion revolver, also known as a "transitional" revolver, signed T. LHOIST (Mariette-style pepperbox). T. LHOIST, patented in Cheratte (a town in the Liège metropolitan area), has a barrel fixed to the axis of rotation by a wedge. Below the axis of rotation is an opening allowing the passage of a separate ramrod to load each chamber of the cylinder. It features a finely engraved six-shot cylinder and a wooden grip (strongly inspired by the Colt 1851). Colt granted Toussaint LHOIST the right to manufacture weapons according to the Colt system, with a front-loading cylinder using percussion caps and a loading lever. LHOIST represented the Colt brand in Europe. The revolver is in perfect working order, with perfect cylinder indexing, no play, and good overall condition, retaining traces of its original bluing. This revolver is now very rare and can only be acquired at auction.
